Our commitment
Link-up prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation in every form. This includes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, trafficking, and any other sexualisation of a minor.
We act on every report we receive. Accounts involved in CSAE are removed permanently and reported to the appropriate authorities.
Adults only
- Link-up is strictly for people aged 18 and over.
- Every member must give a date of birth at sign-up, and accounts under 18 are refused.
- Members can verify their identity with a government ID and a live selfie through our verification provider.
- If we believe an account belongs to a minor, we suspend it immediately while we investigate.
How to report
Anyone can report a profile, a message or content, whether or not they use Link-up.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police first. In South Africa call 10111, or the Childline South Africa helpline on 116 (free, 24 hours).
What we do when something is reported
- We review it urgently and ahead of other reports.
- We restrict the account while we investigate, so no further contact is possible.
- We remove violating content and permanently ban the account and the person behind it.
- We preserve the evidence as required by law.
- We report to the authorities, including the South African Police Service and, where applicable, the relevant national or international child protection body.
How we prevent it
- Age gating at sign-up, with an 18+ requirement.
- Identity verification using government ID and a live selfie, so members can see who has verified before they talk.
- Reporting and blocking built into every profile and conversation.
- Account bans that remove the person from the platform, not merely the content.
Legal compliance
Link-up complies with South African law, including the Films and Publications Act and the Children's Act, and with our obligations under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) when handling personal information in the course of an investigation.
We comply with Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and Apple's App Store Review Guidelines on child safety.
